Graduation Day

A few weeks ago CDC had a graduation celebration for the kids heading off to kindergarten in the Fall. They all wore capes and hats of their own making and sang a song they all wrote about riding on the bus. It was adorable. Before I had kids I thought preschool graduations were silly, but fell hard for this cute little celebration and the joy it gave Ben (as you can see below). Speaking of celebrations, today is my 43rd birthday. My dear friend Mollie is taking me to lunch, but other than that I am hoping the day will quietly pass me by. If I don't recognize it perhaps I will grow a year younger, rather than older : ) Ben told me I would have a salad cake (apparently alluding to some mystery present coming later today—hmmm) and he was very distraught when he heard there would be no party, no bouncy castle, nothing. In fact it reduced him to tears. He didn't understand why my "grown up friends" were not coming over.  Poor little man. I briefly considered throwing together a last minute shindig for his benefit, but then I realized I would have to clean the house. Never mind.
