Last Saturday I did day one of the holiday mini sessions at Laguna Gloria. It was a beautiful day, beautiful weather, beautiful people. I had such a great time. Here is just a tiny sampling of some of my favorite photos from the day. Also, a HUGE thanks to my dear friends Tanya and Anjalika for all of their amazing help.

The Nail Salon | Destination Wedding Photographer
I am still making my way through the wedding photos, so I thought I would blog this wedding in stages since the photos cover a few days. These photos are from the first day we arrived when the girls were getting their nails done. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to photograph manis and pedis being done. It's almost as good as getting your own. And little Henry was the wedding's unofficial mascot. His mom, Kelly Sue, was Laurenn's maid of honor.

Chocolate Cake
Ever since getting back from Vegas and getting over strep throat, I just have not been able to get my game back. Do you know what I mean? When you just feel drained. So I think I need to head over to HEB for some ice cream. It won't help my get up and go, but it will at least make me feel better. Just like this chocolate cupcake did for Sammy at Laurenn's wedding.

Leaving Las Vegas
We went to Vegas last weekend so that Josh could go to our friend Laurenn's wedding and so that I could photograph it. I have to preface this by saying that, as I see it, there are basically four attractions to Vegas: drinking, smoking, gambling, and going to strip clubs. These are probably the four things that are of the least interest in the world to me. Well, except for the drinking, but it's hard to drink when you are working, fighting a cold and have your two toddlers in tow.
The wedding itself was lovely, but everything outside of it was pretty hellish. We spent most of the weekend stuck in our hotel room because one of the boys was napping. Of course they couldn't nap concurrently, they had to do it consecutively. Just like prison terms. And then to top it all off, they decided that it would be a good idea to wake up at 3:30 in the morning. You heard me right. THREE THIRTY IN THE MORNING. It was a nightmare. It's a good thing that they are so darn cute. So we were tired, subsisting on cheap junk food and the weekend ended with me getting strep throat. Other than that, it was a great trip.
Laurenn and Alex's Amuse Bouche | Destination Wedding Photographer
Laurenn and Alex got married last weekend in Las Vegas and what a wedding it was. I took way too many photos and will be going through them forever so I won't have an official sneak peek ready for a bit, but here is just a little taste of a very yummy fete.

Inspiration
Kids are so resilient. Today I read and looked at a post on Blue Lily's blog that really inspired this feeling in me. It is a photoshoot she did with the Nielson children. Stephanie and Christian Nielson were in a tragic plane accident last August and have been parted from their four children since then. And although I am certain that these kids miss their parents almost more than they can bear, it is so good to see them laughing and loving and LIVING in the now. Love really doesn't go away, does it?
Halloween
I am feeling mighty poorly still, but thought I would post a couple of quick shots from Halloween. Ben made it to three houses before he got too scared. The houses in the neighborhood we were in in Vegas WERE pretty scary. And he takes after me. I am a terrible 'fraidy cat. Harry and Leilani's house (which we were using as home base) had a scary full sized man with a chain saw in front and Ben and I refused to go through the front door. We made Josh open up the garage for us. Trying to get all three of them in the frame proved challenging, as evidenced in the last three shots. But my boys sure looked cute, didn't they?Side note: after re-reading this post for errors I realized that I SOUND LIKE A HICK. Oy! "feeling mighty poorly" indeed.

Election Day
Well, we got home last night and I am never traveling with small children again. And I now have strep throat. Oy! But since it is election day I thought I would quit griping and post this photo of Ben on election day three years ago. I can't wait for results. The suspense is killing me.

Swingers
This will be the last post for a few days. Tomorrow morning we are leaving on a jet plane to go to Vegas, where I am photographing the wedding of an old friend of Josh's (and mine, but he found her first). We are goig to try to curb Ben's gambling habit, but in the wise words of Vince Vaughn "He's SO money".

Ben and the Camera
Lately Ben does not want me to take his picture. He will allow me to photograph him, but he refuses to look at the camera. Hence the plethora of Sam photos. But a couple of weeks ago I managed to snap quite a few of my first baby.

Wedding in New Braunfels, Texas: Kristin and Zac
A couple of weeks ago I second shot a wedding with San Antonio photographer extraordinaire Amy DeYoung. The bride and groom, Kristin and Zac, were wonderful. They were relaxed and happy, they really seemed to enjoy their day. And the Landmark building, where they held the reception, was a bauhaus dream. Here are some of the shots that I took. I went a little overboard with the details shots, but there were so many great ones that I couldn't hold back. I love the one of the bride's sister, the maid of honor, practicing her speech. I also especially like the one where the ring bearer is making a face during the ceremony and the one where the dad and son are eating and dad is having a salad and the little boy is having a donut. Getting older is not fair. We all should be eating donuts.

Weekend
We had a very lazy weekend. It was nice.

Girls and Science DO Mix
I usually do not post anything about events, but this one touches a subject close to my heart. This Sunday Girlstart, a non-profit organization created to educate and empower girls in math, science and technology, is sponsoring a "Spooky Science Extravaganza" from 2-5 at the Mexican-American Cultural Center. Greenery
Conversation with Ben the other night over his pho (for those of you in the studio audience who don't know what pho is, it is a Vietnamese dish of noodles, broth etc).Ben: Mom I don't like the green stuff (cilantro). Me: Are you afraid it might kill you (sarcastically)? I'll eat it. I proceed to pick pick out the cilantro and eat it. A couple of minutes later. Ben: Mommy can you take out the green stuff? It might kill me. Note to self: must stop using sarcasm with three year olds.
Feet
Sam's and mine.

Chocolate and Champagne
On Monday night I went out for a mother's night out with my fellow O'Mamas. We had chocolate fondue and champagne. Nothing better. I paid the price by waking up the next morning with the stomach flu. By the time I was staring to feel right again, Ben started throwing up. Oy! Let's just hope Sam and Josh are immune. Although the fact that Sam has been taking his morning nap for about 2.5 hours so far has me suspect. I also hope I did not infect baby Emerson (seen below). She is such a doll.

The Birthday Girl
As promised, here are more shots from little Lilia's birthday fete. The second shot, where she is holding the picture frame is of her grandmother, aunt and mother. Her mom Amy is the one on the right, the complete doppelganger of Lilia (they even have the same adorable fountain harido). I also love the last shot where poor Lilia is exhausted and overstimulated and heading for a nap and Sam just looks at her perplexed.
Beloved
I submitted an image for the newest JPG magazine theme which is 'beloved'. Please vote for me if you find my photo worthy. And while you are there check out some of the amazing work.
